The Child Protective Investigative Team is the group of child abuse professionals in Williamson County who investigate allegations of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. This team is mandated by Tennessee law and consists of representatives from the Department of Children's Services, the District Attorney's Office, local Law Enforcement Agencies, and the Child Advocacy Center. We are also fortunate to have a Nurse Practitioner from the Department of Children's Services Health Unit and a Licensed Therapist from the Guidance Center serving on the team.
The mission of the Child Protective Investigative Team is to investigate all allegations of sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of children under the age of 18, which has occurred in Williamson County.
The purpose is to: 1) determine if the alleged abuse occurred; 2) resolve the case in a manner that will ensure the safety of children and the community; and 3) hold the alleged perpetrator legally responsible in the Criminal Justice System whenever possible.
The Child Protective Investigative Team meets twice a month at the Child Advocacy Center.
